A home of ones own is the American dream, said Gulf South International REALTORS, Luis Ernesto Ramos Jr., and he can help you achieve that dream. In the years since Ramos became associated with Gulf South International REALTORS, he has been helping and servicing the real estate community.
Ramos knows many people assume they cannot afford to buy a home and he works to dispel them of that notion. “It doesn’t matter how much money you make,” he said, “There’s a loan program for everyone. Just pick up the phone, call me, and I can help you.”
He matches his clients to a program available to first-time homebuyers, and serves on the affordable housing committee of the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors to spread the word about affordable loan programs.
Uniquely qualified to help anyone from any nationality to buy a home, his team speaks English, Spanish, Tagalog, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, and French. Yet, although his team and Luis speak various languages, his best skill is listening to his clients. “I try to listen, most of all,” Ramos said. “It does not bother me to answer questions 20 times a day.”
Ramos developed his people
Skills after he was seriously injured in a car accident at 17 years old. His van flipped over, he blacked out, and then he heard a horse. He said he saw St. George mounted on the horse. The saint spoke his name, threw his lance on the ground, and told Ramos to grasp it if he wished to live.
Ramos did, but was wheelchair-bound for a year. During this time, he and his mother opened a translation business working with real estate agents. Meeting the agents combined with his own unhappy first experience of buying a home piqued his interest in obtaining a real estate license himself.
He has been in real estate almost twenty five years, and enjoys serving his clients. “I hope as long as I can,” he said. “I feel like I’m a real estate agent for the new century.” He believes strongly that it is his job to be there for his clients. He also believes just as strongly in the American dream of owning one’s own home.
“I don’t do this for the money,” he said. “I know how it feels to want a home and not be able to get one—I want to help other people get in a home of their own.” Ramos likes the way Gulf South International REALTORS supports his agents, as well how the company allows him to serve his clients.
He also likes the international flavor of the company that has a referral system in more than 74 countries and is one HUD’S Neighborhood listing brokers for the New Orleans Metro area.
